About Us
Lafayette for Education (LFE), was founded in February of 2011 by seven parents at Springhill Elementary School in Lafayette, California. We have quickly grown to a group that includes parents, teachers, students, administrators, legislators, and concerned citizens from all over Lafayette and its neighboring towns.
The mission of Lafayette for Education is to identify, secure and support ongoing additional revenues for the Lafayette School District as well as share information about education-related efforts throughout the State of California.
In December of 2011, Lafayette for Education held a Town Hall Meeting on Education Finance. It was an informative evening with speakers ranging from the local to state level. In May of 2011, LFE, in conjunction with the group, Educate Our State, hosted a rally to "Wake Up California." More than 150 people gathered in downtown Lafayette to bring attention to the need for stable funding for schools in California. The same month, Lafayette for Education hosted a discussion called "Speak Up California" which was facilitated by the group California Forward. Attendees had a chance to discuss the current state of California's governance including issues regarding education.
Lafayette for Education is currently busy working on ways to gain adequate, equalized, and stable funding for our schools.
